  • Adriaan Liebetrau

    Adriaan started working in the conference and events industry as a part-time worker while still at secondary school, before studying hospitality management at the University of Johannesburg. He has also completed a number of industry leadership and professional development diplomas and has extensive hospitality industry experience, most notably with Protea Hotels and Peermont Hotels, Casinos and Resorts.

    In 2010, Liebetrau joined Travel with Flair as its C&E team leader, and was later promoted to National C&E operations manager where he was responsible for the day to day operations of seven offices. Adriaan joined SAACI in May 2014 as the Chief Executive Officer after previously serving as a board director for the association. During his tenure Adriaan was the recipient of the CEO Global Titans’ Nation Builder of the year in Tourism and Leisure for South Africa, SADC South and Africa continental winner in 2015. Adriaan most recently join Tsogo Sun as Sales and Marketing Manager Sandton for the Sandton Convention Centre and the Sandton Sun, InterContinental Sandton Towers and Garden Court Sandton City Hotels.



    David Frost

    David Frost is CEO of Southern Africa Tourism Services Association. David has 18 years’ experience at an executive level in tourism strategy.  He was a former Special Advisor on Tourism to Ministers Jordan and Moosa as well as MD of Tourvest’s Inbound Division.  He has consulted widely to leading private sector companies as well as developed destination strategies for a number of SADC countries.

  • Carol Weaving

    Prof. Dr. Wolfgang H. Thome


    Chief Correspondent for Africa, eTN and Publisher of ATC News, Eastern Africa's largest aviation, tourism and conservation blog Wolfgang will be giving an insight into the development of aviation in Eastern Africa with particular emphasis on the emergence of RwandAir as a major African player and the revival of Air Tanzania through direct government intervention. He will also show how Eastern Africa as a whole has become a key African aviation with the most important international airlines serving the region. 

  • Monique Swart


    Monique is known for opening new markets for travel education and building local communities within the markets of Africa & the Middle East. She is able to see challenges in a neutral way, acting as a facilitator and moderator of industry affairs. Globally known as the “go to” person for all travel industry solutions in Africa and a firm advocate for “grass root” issues, she is passionate about the importance of education in emerging markets and ensuring that Africa and the Middle East build their industry as global beacons of best practice for customer service and fulfilment.


    Gillian Saunders

  • Allan Wantenaar


    I assist clients in navigating complex market conditions, in simplifying business decision and to reduce risk associated with developments, I help clients obtain funding for projects through business plans and feasibility work, but most of all I am as passionate of my clients prospects and business ventures as they are.


    Rashid Toefy


    Rashid Toefy, Managing Director of MCI in South Africa - MCI Group is world’s largest conference & association management company in 60 cities around the world. Before joining MCI, he served as the CEO of the CTICC, the leading convention centre in Africa, positioning it as a global leader in sustainability. He worked extensively in the tourism industry, both in South Africa and abroad. He was based in Amsterdam, developing business & marketing strategies for tourism businesses in over 30 countries. Rashid serves on the Board of several organizations, and is a member of the United Nations Global Compact Advisory Board in South Africa. He has a degree in Economics and Environmental Science, and an MBA from the University of Cape Town. Rashid has become a thought leader on sustainability, he has spoken at several conferences, about the importance and value of establishing social and environmental consciousness in businesses.

  • Craig Drysdale

    My travel and tourism journey started in 1996 and for the past 20 years I have worked in various senior management roles. My qualifications and courses include an executive leadership course at the University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Management, a Certified Meetings Professional (CMP) exam and Designation at the Conference Industry Council in the United States (the highest designation that can be bestowed on an individual in the conference and events industry) and a postgraduate qualification in Human Resource Management and Training.


    Alex Granger


    Alex Granger is CEO of The Possibility of You, a niche mentorship and coaching business, also providing businesses with bespoke intervention workshops in leadership, high performance, and sales. He is also the CEO of Metro Conference Centre, a Global Business Speaker, and author of three books.
